Max thinks not, it is 10mm wider and taller. I've got a 140/90 - 15R (reinforeced=HD or 6 ply rated) and it rubs on the saddle bag support bolts. They fit about 4mm futher inside with the support in place. It does help with cruising RPM a tiny bit I think, and is less cushy. I think the OEM tire is underrated for some of riders and riding style and that is why the short life (mine lasted 6k miles). Front is about gone at 7Kmil + due to some cupping. Bad balance and or poor shocking action causes this and it is irreversable even with repairs. If cycles are like autmotobiles, they generally go for boxcar loads dirt cheap and aren't concerned with mileage or traction on entry level bikes espically. When you get to the expensive performers, then the rules change and premimum tires are the norm. I went with ME88's and like the rear one so far, about 100 miles. Nice and round and good traction and no noticable wear yet. Keep shopping for the OEM size and have it mounted and balanced professionally. It is a chore to R& R w/o a work rack and jack, and get that stiff short sidewall tire off and on is alot of hard dirty work. I've changed lots of car and many cycle tires over the years and I went through 2 tubes before I got it together airtight. I always use a new tube with a new tire. Flats are the pits and a tire going flat while underway is scary and dangerous. Max
